To make sure your product is genuine, follow these simple steps

Check the security label on the packaging of your toner, ink or drum unit. Then go to www.brother.com/id and check the hologram matches the one displayed. You can then enter the ID from the carton for further confirmation of your product’s authenticity.

Using your Smartphone:

• Download a data matrix code reader app (QR only reader app may not work)
• Open the reader app, scan the Data Matrix code and enter the verification page
• The ID will be automatically checked and you will see the green tick if the product is genuine
• To verify further, check the hologram matches the one displayed on the verification page
• If the code reader doesn’t work please enter the information manually at www.brother.com/id

• A unique Canon hologram is included on the packaging of all genuine Canon ink cartridges*, laser toners, copier toners, camera and camcorder batteries. The hologram has a unique colour-changing feature which appears as an iridescent gold when viewed from the front, but changes to a dark iridescent green when tilted horizontally. If the hologram is counterfeit, this colour change does not occur or the change is slight. (* the European plastic type inkjet packaging or blister multipacks may not include the unique hologram.)
• Fake holograms are often displayed on fake packaging in an untidy way and appear damaged, blurred, in the wrong colour or size.
• Canon logos on counterfeit Canon packaging and products may be blurred and in the wrong colour, font or size.
• Packaging of counterfeit products may look like it has been resealed, reused or tampered with.
• Counterfeit products or packaging may have spelling errors.

Other signs of counterfeit products

• Price: Be cautious of sellers with unusually low prices.
• Place of purchase: Caution should be taken when purchasing from internet auction websites. Not all products purchased from these sites are counterfeit; however counterfeiters use these sites for speed, anonymity and global reach.
